Artesians will be able to combine a delicious – and hassle-free – Sunday meal with a philanthropic gesture Feb. 12 at Artesia (Park) Junior High, as the Altrusa Club of Artesia hosts its 49th Annual Smorgasbord.
The yearly event is Altrusa’s largest fundraiser and the source of much of the money that is distributed by the club to a wide variety of assistance organizations and charities within the community. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
“What we do, basically, is all of the members of Artesia Altrusa get together with some of the folks that work over at Park, and we make this a community-wide event,” said Anna Pitts, smorgasbord co-chair. “This is significant in helping us raise money for the various causes we support here in Artesia.”
Organizations such as Grammy’s House, CASA, the Artesia Drug & Crime Coalition, the Special Olympics, the Heartland Care Center and Paws and Claws receive assistance from Altrusa, and the club also distributes scholarships to local students, who serve the public at the smorgasbord.
