The Artesia Police Department is offering residents a safe place to dispose of old or outdated medication.
A drop-off box will be available from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, excluding national holidays, at the Public Safety Complex, 3300 W. Main St. The box will be located in the lobby for easy access.
The APD says no personal information is required to deposit medication.
“Last year, many thousands of prescription drugs were collected at about 6,100 sites,” said Cmdr. Lindell Smith. “These items were removed from circulation and possible accidental ingestion by children and pets, as well as abuse by those that might be caught in that trap.”
