The New Mexico Community Foundation has announced applications are now being accepted for Jonathan Sherman Spradling Memorial Scholarships for fall semester 2016.

Four $1,000 scholarships are available. One scholarship will be awarded to a student from each of the following high schools: Artesia High School, Belen High School, Los Lunas High School and Valencia High School.

Applicants must plan to attend a higher education institution in New Mexico and have a minimum, cumulative GPA of 2.0. Guidelines and applications may be found online at nmcf.org. For more information, call 505-820-6860, ext. 15.

Spradling, a 1997 graduate of Artesia High School, was killed in a vehicle accident in 2001 at the age of 23. He was a member of two state championship Bulldog football teams and a former Student Council president who was enthusiastically involved in education, music, art and literature.
