APS provides instructions for school notification app

Following Friday’s incident in which a threat connected to the Artesia Public Schools was circulated on social media, APS officials are providing instructions for obtaining the district’s mobile app, which is designed to provide notifications to users.

The APS Mobile App is available on Apple and Android devices and is free in the App Store and Play Store.

Apple Users
• Visit the App Store.
• Search “Artesia Public Schools.”
• Download the app.
• Upon opening the app, make sure to allow notifications.
On your Apple device, open the “Settings” icon, locate and open the APS app, and open notifications.
Ensure the toggle for “Allow Notifications” is in the “on” (green) position.
At the bottom of the notifications screen, choose “Persistent Banners” or “Alerts” (depending on version).
Set notifications to appear on “Locked Screen.”

Android Users
• Visit the Play Store.
• Search “Artesia Public Schools.”
• Download the app.
• From your phone’s home screen, select “Settings.”
Scroll down and open “Apps.”
Open the “Application Manager.”
Find and open the APS app.
Scroll down to “Notifications” and choose “Allow Notifications.”

Once app users have enabled notifications on their device, they should receive alerts from the APS regarding inclement weather, emergency announcements, events, etc., as well as one-click access to the bulldogs.org website.
