Current Artesia Public Schools board members Carolyn Shearman and Jeff Bowman will run uncontested during the 2011 biennial school board elections.

APS superintendent Mike Phipps announced during Monday’s board meeting that District 3 vice president Shearman and District 5 board member Bowman will serve APS for another four years following their Feb. 1 reelection.

“They are excellent board members with plenty of experience,” Phipps said this morning. “I think their return shows the stability of our board, and they represent their districts very well.”

School board members are elected for a term of four years, with elections staggering for positions every two years. In 2013, positions in Districts 4, 2 and 1 will be open for election. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
