ARTESIA – Following a nationwide search, the City of Artesia and Sports Facilities Companies have announced their selection of Greg “Alan” Moore as general manager of the Artesia Aquatic Center.

Moore’s career thus far has been in the automotive industry, which encompasses ownership and management of auto body shops, as well as consulting for dealerships to remain compliant and increase profits.

Sports Facilities Companies said in a release Tuesday that his “driven mentality, management experience, and compliance expertise make him a uniquely qualified fit for the role.”

Moore was born and raised in Alpharetta, Ga. He spent his childhood summers on Jekyll Island with his grandmother and aunts, where he developed a love for the ocean, equestrian sports and triathlons. After studying psychology at BMI Institute in Atlanta, Moore managed his family business until age 27, before starting a family of his own with his wife, Brenna.

Upon selling his interests in the family business, Moore and his wife spent the next 17 years traveling, swimming, biking, running, and enjoying family life. In 2014, Moore and his family settled in Artesia, where they felt welcomed by its tight-knit community and appreciation for the outdoors.

Still residing in Artesia, Moore is excited to apply his experience to his new role as general manager of the Artesia Aquatic Center, creating an environment that both Sports Facilities Companies and the City of Artesia can take pride in.

“I am very happy to be here in Artesia. It is a wonderful community,” said Moore. “It is a privilege to be the general manager of a world-class facility like this and serve the city that I am proud to call home.”

Construction of the indoor/outdoor facility was completed in 2019 in joint efforts between the City of Artesia, the Artesia Public Schools, Artesia General Hospital, and private citizens through the AACF. It features an outdoor recreation pool in the shape of the Bulldog logo, a lazy river, three tower slides, a toddler pool with zero-depth entry, and a play structure resembling the Illinois #3 drilling rig of 1924 – a nod to one of Artesia’s primary economic drivers.

Inside, visitors can enjoy an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool; a three-lane, 60-foot training pool; bathrooms; changing rooms; a party room; and a concession area encompassing 14,300 square feet of space.

The Artesia Aquatics Center hosts year-round classes, open swims, theme nights, and community events. For more information, visit www.artesianmaquatics.com. To learn more about the Sports Facilities Companies, visit www.sportsfacilities.com.
