And the wins just keep on coming.
In front of a packed house Friday night at Ground Zero in Roswell, the Lady Bulldog basketball team improved to 3-0 in District 4-AAAA play for the first time in recent memory, posting their fourth consecutive victory over the Lady Rockets on their home turf, 52-41.

While Friday’s win wasn’t quite as dominant as the 40-22 drubbing the Lady ‘Dogs handed Goddard Feb. 1 at Bulldog Pit, Artesia head coach Jeff Houghtaling says he and his athletes went into Ground Zero expecting a battle. They got exactly that.

“We knew that Goddard had nothing to lose and that they play extremely hard in their gym,” Houghtaling said Saturday. “They’ve always played well against us there, and we traditionally haven’t played our best in their gym.

“Goddard did a fine job. I thought they played extremely hard. Their full-court man pressure was good the whole game. They switched their game plan up on us. Last time, they played us in kind of a packed-in zone and challenged us to shoot a little bit. Last night, they extended that pressure, played man, and gave us a different look.
