Above, members of the Artesia High School Class of 2015 toss their caps in the air Thursday during commencement exercises at Bulldog Pit. As is popular with graduating classes, each student handed something to the administrators distributing their diplomas, but rather than a marble or piece of candy, AHS Principal Scotty Stall reports, the 208 students presented money to be donated to the Marquise’ Weast Memorial Scholarship Fund. A total of $1,456 was collected in this way, with no prior knowledge or guidance from the administration or AHS staff. “I couldn’t be more proud of these young people,” Stall said.
