Pedro Esquibel, 31, of Artesia, was arrested on charges of fraud and shoplifting Wednesday afternoon when police say Esquibel attempted to return a TV speaker to Wal-Mart that he stole from the store earlier that day.
Wal-Mart staff showed security camera footage to police officers, in which a man matching Esquibel’s description purchased a TV speaker Wednesday morning and left the store. Police say he returned minutes later, went again to the store’s electronics section, and selected the same model of speaker. He then carried it from the store without paying for it, instead waving his receipt from the purchase of the first speaker to Wal-Mart staff near the door to indicate the item was paid for. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
