“Violent crimes like the one Ellis was arrested for are always difficult to work because of the emotion and feelings of the parties involved,” Sgt. Lindell Smith of the APD said. “They are especially difficult for the victims and their families. However, now that the investigation is winding down, we can allow the criminal justice system to do what it needs to do with the case and bring it to justice.”
According to the APD, Ellis’ charges are based on physical and testimonial evidence collected by APD detectives relating to an incident that occurred within Artesia’s city limits around mid-May.
