Yeso principal joins other APS schools in welcoming new year

The new school year has officially begun for Artesia students, and Yeso Elementary School Principal Danny Parker could not be more excited.

Parker said there has been an influx of new students from outside the Artesia Public Schools district, from areas such as Albuquerque and Carlsbad.

“It’s really exciting. It’s a big challenge, but it’s always exciting,” said Parker. “Students are excited to meet other students from other parts of the state.”

Despite budget constraints hitting New Mexico schools hard over the past few years, Parker said the Yeso staff is excited about the new year and is focused on upholding a positive attitude while working through the challenges set before them. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
