A Carlsbad man is in custody on narcotics and other charges following an investigation Tuesday by the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force (PVDTF).

As part of the investigation into possible narcotics trafficking, agents with the PVDTF executed a search warrant Tuesday for 1902 Pearl in Carlsbad. Pursuant to the warrant, the agents seized 57 grams of high-grade marijuana, scales, baggies, glass pipes, bongs, five marijuana plants, and $2,760 in $20 denominations.

The agents also arrested Silvester David Rueda IV, 18, on charges of battery upon a peace officer, distribution of marijuana, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The trafficking investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the task force at 575-887-5194, on Facebook, or by using the Anonymous Tips link at www.pvdtf.net.

The PVDTF is comprised of officers from the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, Carlsbad Police Department and Artesia Police Department, and is part of the HIDTA Region VI Drug Task Force.
