Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Celestina Lopez Herrera of Artesia.

Herrera, 91, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at her home.

Fr. Jorge Vargas will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sean Orahood, Zachary Orosco, Max Vasquez, Christopher Lopez, Gage Simer and Michael Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Lopez and Jose Maria Lopez.

Celestina was born May 19, 1926, in Terlingua, Texas, the daughter of Juan E. and Maria (Huerta) Lopez.

On Nov. 7, 1956, she married Crispin R. Herrera in Carlsbad.

Celestina was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, babysitting her grandchildren, playing bingo, cooking, and family gatherings.

Survivors include sons Rafael Orosco Jr. and wife Carol of Boise, Idaho, and Samuel Orosco and wife Gloria of Artesia; daughters Louisa Madrid and husband Rene, Anita Juntilla and husband Joseph, and Corinna Herrera and husband Felix, all of Artesia; brothers Jose Maria Lopez of Ruidoso and Francisco H. Lopez of Artesia; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Crispin Herrera, on April 22, 1983; her parents; daughter Virginia Herrera; brothers Benigno Lopez, Florencio Lopez and Juan H. Lopez; sisters Estefana Lopez and Felisa Moreno; and granddaughter Ashley R. Speir.
