Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at First Baptist Church for Charles “Charlie” Buck of Artesia.
Buck, 83, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home.
Pastor Rick Smith will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Buck, Josh Hopper, Gentry Hopper, Randy Kinnibrugh, Cole Kinnibrugh and Randy Buck.
Visitation will be held until 8 p.m. today at Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Charles was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Cottonwood. He was a lifelong area resident and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In 1963, he married Bettie Deaton in Artesia. He married Joanne Edwards in March 1968. On Feb. 14, 2009, he married the love of his life, Shirley Doss.
Charles was an A&B operator at Navajo Refining Co. for 45 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge. Charles loved spending time with his family, travelling, old-school values, integrity, dependability, and hard work.
Survivors include sons Charles Gist of Ruidoso and Joel Edward Buck of Hobbs; daughters Kathy Lynne Hopper of Gatewood, Mo., and Jo Lynn Greene of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joanne Buck; and wife Shirley Buck.
