Commissioner Glenn Collier announces his intent to pursue reelection as county commissioner to District 3. District 3 includes Artesia, Carlsbad, Hope, White City, Queen, Black River and Happy Valley.
Collier’s role has been instrumental in succeeding numerous county projects, programs and facilities that today are serving the citizens of Eddy well. The voting district Collier represents extends throughout all of Eddy County from the National Parks Highway to Queen; 52 miles from the Texas border, one of the largest real estate districts in Eddy County. Collier’s 12 year political tenure has a combined service record of 25 years of either proposing or implementing improvements for Eddy County.
Projects comprise of being an originating founder of Grammy’s House, State Public Health – WIC building (Women with Infant Children), located at 10th and Memorial Drive in Artesia. Collier’s expertise for protocol processes have proven effective to sustaining budgets to incorporate growth, as with the build out of other services like the Artesia Senior Meal Site and Day Care, Vocational Training Center and the land purchase for the Artesia Head Start expansion project.
His leadership and vision in connection to county finances encircle the Motor Vehicle Department facility, Artesia General Hospital helicopter pad, negotiations with the Eddy County Shooting Range in Artesia, State Public Health Building, the Carlsbad’s New Juvenile Detention Center and downtown property for the Administration Complex and Carlsbad Sports Complex. Additionally, improvements have proven to be first-rate for building recreational facilities like the Community Centers and Park, the MLK Splash and Skate Park – 2002, Eagle Draw Flow Channel and Crossings, Veteran Memorial Flag Pole, Champion Cove Recreation Area, the C-Hill Communication Tower and REDA/911 Dispatch for Eddy County, and many more.
“The public has been supportive honoring my leadership and I extend my appreciation for that support, which is the passionate driving force for my continuing to pursue reelection. In the interest of the county and attain more of the same record services for this county is motive. This kind of trust in my leadership advocates the very foundation of this roll to see these projects through.” Collier said, “I have always and will always devote myself to family values, HEAR the public and community needs that thereby give citizens the reassure the public concerns are heard and the citizens are given notice of their right to vote,” i.e. GRT, Capital Outlay.
Commissioner Collier has served on the New Mexico Association of Counties, Board of Directors, the Executive Board for Regional Emergency Dispatch Authority (REDA/911), Advisory Board of Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS), and assigned to County committees – elected to serve on the Board of trustees in recent past of the Artesia’s Special Hospital District.
In the 12 years of service Collier indicates he is proud to see the most effectiveness come from maintaining solid relationships with Public Officials to meet the needs of the people.
Collier divulges his passion as commissioner derives from engaging the “Power of the People,” staying diligent to the balanced budget tradition while maintaining consistent involvement and keeping the board of commissioners publically transparent while sustaining the commissions Fiscal Accountability.
Collier said, “I am ready to stand on the public’s behalf and let the citizens voices continue to be heard.”
