Due to misinformation provided to the Daily Press, some of the details of the four-vehicle accident that occurred Dec. 20 at the intersection of 13th Street and Grand Avenue were incorrect.
The Chevrolet pickup that wound up on its driver’s side following the collision was the vehicle at fault; the pickup was headed west on Grand Avenue when it accelerated in an attempt to beat the yellow light. The attempt failed, and the pickup collided with a black GMC Denali, rolling up and over the Denali’s front end and coming to rest on its side.
The driver of the Denali, Patricia Perez, was traveling south on 13th Street at the time and was not at fault in the accident. A black Ford F150 stopped at the red light facing east on Grand Avenue was struck by the Chevrolet as it landed, and a grey Ford Mustang also stopped at the light to the south of the F150 was struck by flying debris from the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was cited for careless driving – due regard for traffic.
