ARTESIA — The Artesia City Council will hold one public hearing and consider a request to make improvements to Jamaica Park at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.

Following recognition of Myra Barnum as the 2019 New Mexico Property and Evidence Tech of the Year, the public hearing will begin, concerning consideration and approval of an ordinance for the West Acres Subdivision between 24th and 26th streets, north of Bullock Ave.

Infrastructure director Byron Landfair will request the council’s approval for a resolution allowing the Yates Foundation and its contractors access to Jamaica Park and authority to make improvements, and city clerk Aubrey Hobson will request approval for a resolution establishing a lien for delinquent utility accounts.

A special meeting for utility liens appeals will precede the council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Council Chambers at City Hall. The regular council meeting will follow at 6 p.m.
