The Eddy County Commission voted Tuesday to approve a request to defer construction on the west side of the Loop Road in Carlsbad and instead commence efforts on the east side of the project.
“We have been contracting with Smith Engineering to prepare the construction plans for the west side, which are nearing completion at this point,” said William Morris, general services director. “Right now, the funding is $21 million, but the cost is estimated to be $30 million.
