The Eddy County Commission called a special meeting last week to determine the passage of an ordinance that would allow the City of Carlsbad to annex land within a two-mile radius of its borders as an extraterritorial zone. The ordinance was passed, and today, county residents from the La Huerta, Standpipe and Otis regions of Eddy County filled Commission Chambers to voice their outrage.
