Covenant Health System announced that Artesia’s Covenant Community Outreach Children’s Dental Clinic will close its doors in October.
The clinic, which accepted children’s Medicaid, opted to close its doors after a triennial community needs assessment was conducted to gauge Artesia’s need for health services to patients with low income or no dental insurance.
“As we were reviewing the results from the latest assessment, we realized what a great resource Artesia already has available to them for dental care,” said Clarke Cochran, vice president of mission integration for Covenant Health System. “Our board firmly believes it is our mission and calling to serve communities that have absolutely no health programs available for the underprivileged, uninsured, or geographically isolated.”
After Covenant ceases operation, patients will be directed to Presbyterian Medical Services Artesia Health Resources, located at 1105 Memorial Drive. The dental office accepts children’s Medicaid and also offers services to uninsured patients on a sliding fee based on their income. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
