According to the proclamation, the purpose of the Association of Desk & Derrick Clubs is to promote the education and professional development of individuals employed in or affiliated with the petroleum, energy and allied industries. The mission statement of Desk & Derrick is “To enhance and foster a positive image to the global community by promoting the contribution of the petroleum, energy and allied industries through education by using all resources available.” The Artesia Desk & Derrick Club which was founded in 1956 and awards scholarships to local students pursuing studies in the petroleum fields.
