Dorothy Inglis Losee passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at her home in Albuquerque.

She was born Dec. 2, 1923, the only child of David Donaldson and Helen (Blanchard) Inglis.

She graduated high school in Hampton, Iowa, then attended Monticello College. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1945, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

On Sept. 3, 1946, Dorothy married Arthur Jarrell Losee at the First Congregational Church in Hampton. After he obtained his law degree from the University of Oklahoma, the couple moved to Artesia, where they lived for 60 years.

Dorothy moved to La Vida Llena in Albuquerque in 2010 to be near her daughters. She believed in a positive outlook always, as was reflected in her wide circle of friends and her volunteer work.

Dorothy was an active member of the Artesia community, a sister in PEO. She served as president of the alter guild of St.

Paul’s Episcopal Church. She was also president of the Artesia Library Association, a volunteer “pink lady” at Artesia General Hospital, and a member of the Animal Humane Society and Chapter J of the PEO sisterhood.

She was a Brownie and a Girl Scout leader.

Dorothy and Jerry enjoyed tennis and golfing at the Artesia and Alto Country Clubs over many summers. They were world travelers, enjoying long days at sea and driving through Britain and France, sometimes with hilarious results.

Survivors include two daughters who loved her dearly, Elizabeth “Buff” Garrett and husband Stephen, and Ann Pike and husband Mark; her grandchildren, who called her Grandmother, Claire, Georgia, Katie and Steve; and greatgrandchildren Lucia, Christian and Ben Herbst, and Addie and Ryan Baker.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Arthur Jarrell Losee.

She will be terribly missed by her family.
