*Out of the 612 cases reported today in Lea County, 331 are considered historical (meaning more than 14 days have passed since the specimen was collected) and should not be considered as reflecting the current levels of community transmission. Those late-arriving cases are the result of one late-reporting facility and date back over the course of at least 6 months. Out of the 612 cases reported today, 281 are within 14 days of the date of specimen collection and are considered recent (acute) cases.

The Department of Health on Thursday reported four additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19:
Three recent deaths:
• A male in his 70s from Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
• A male in his 80s from Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
• A male in his 60s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
* One death >30 days:
• A male in his 70s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized.
* COVID-related deaths are reported when a death certificate has been issued and some death certificates are delayed due to insufficient information.
The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 4,441.
Daily case counts and test numbers are raw data based on information the state receives today – meaning data that has not yet been scrutinized to identify potential duplicates or late-arriving positives or negatives.

As of today, there are 293 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.
As of today, there are 198,143 COVID-19 cases designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.
The Department of Health has identified at least one positive COVID-19 case in residents and/or staff in the past 28 days at the following long-term care facilities in Eddy County: Artesia Healthcare and Rehabilitation and Good Life Senior Living and Memory Care in Artesia.
The New Mexico Department of Health has active investigations into the positive patients, which includes contact tracing and swabs of symptomatic individuals who have had contact with the positive cases.
