Above, the wife of Alex Kee Yazzie, a Navajo Nation Police Department officer killed March 19 in a shootout with a suspect near Red Valley, Ariz., is wrapped in a ceremonial blanket as her children look on during the 25th Annual Indian Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial this morning at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Below, Lawrence Robertson, a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate tribe, performs a traditional blessing of the memorial wall. Yazzie, Anthony Lossiah of the Cherokee Indian Police Department, and Nash Garcia of the New Mexico State Police were the three officers killed in the line of duty that were honored this year.
