Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at West Main Baptist Church for Nicholas Hairston Salter of White Sands Missile Range.

Salter, 34, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at his home.

Interment will take place at the Williamson Ranch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be ENS Kyle Van Leuven, LTJG Gene Harrell, DCC Nolan Freyoux, FCC Eric Rodriguez, FCC Brian White and GM1 Kenneth Marsh.

Nicholas was born March 28, 1981, in Lincoln, Ala., the son of Ronnie and Elizabeth (McCullough) Salter. He came to New Mexico in 2006 from Mississippi.

On Dec. 30, 2006, he married Erin Williamson in Lakewood.

He was actively serving in the United State Navy, where he was a fire controlman. He loved hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, and being outdoors, and was an avid Alabama football fan.

Survivors include his wife, Erin Salter, of White Sands Missile Range; father Ronnie Salter of Lincoln, Ala.; mother Elizabeth Hall of Taladega, Ala.; son Austin Alexander of Springville, Ala., daughter Taylor Salter of White Sands Missile Range; and sisters Holly Posey of Trussville, Ala., Lori Salter of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Jana Kipping of Lincoln, Ala.
