Federico Hernandez

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Federico “Lico” Balencia Hernandez.

Hernandez, 76, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, in El Paso, Texas.

Interment will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Garcia, Anthony Lara, Fred Olivas, Matthew Hernandez, Cilio Hernandez and Emilio Garcia. Honorary pallbearer is Martin Perez.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace.

Federico was born April 20, 1942, in Artesia to Pete and Lola (Balencia) Hernandez.

He was married to Guadalupe Hernandez for 60 years.

Federico was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He learned so much of life and living from his wife, Lupe, who taught him the values of having a loving family. In his earlier years, Federico worked as a bartender at Los Padrinos in Artesia and at the Woodie Pie Company, delivering Woodie Pies. Prior to retirement, he worked at Navajo Refining Co.

Federico’s favorite pastimes were fishing and being a softball coach. He was a loving husband, father, and the best cook, who loved cooking “good food” for his family. Federico’s family will carry fond memories of him, and he will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving to eternally treasure and cherish Federico’s memory are his children, Celestino Hernandez and wife Lorraine, Rosie Garcia and husband Louis, Lola Muniz and husband Jack, and Sylvia Hernandez and spouse Anthony Lara; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Hernandez; parents Pete and Lola (Balencia) Hernandez; brothers Manuel Hernandez, Bennie Hernandez, Paul Hernandez and Jessie Hernandez; and sister Angela Hernandez.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory of Roswell. Condolences may be expressed online at www.andersonbethany.com.
