Guadalupe Jimenez

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Guadalupe Noriega Jimenez of Artesia.

Jimenez, 57, passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.

Fr. Jorge Vargas will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Guadalupe Jimenez Jr., Jesus Chavez, Albert Mata, Mago Jimenez, Marilio Ponce Jr., Felipe Jimenez and Porfirio Jimenez.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Terpening & Son Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace.

Guadalupe was born Jan. 4, 1960, in Juarez, Mexico, to Porfirio and Juana (Noriega) Jimenez. He was a longtime Artesia resident.

On Sept. 1, 1994, he married Amalia Gallegos in Roswell.

Guadalupe worked as a farm laborer and enjoyed music and the outdoors. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Amalia, of the family home; daughters Lydia Jimenez, Laura Jimenez and Elisa Jimenez, all of Artesia; sons Guadalupe Jimenez Jr. and wife Rosa, and Jesus Chavez, both of Artesia; siblings Porfirio, Olga, Felipe, Margarito, Sylvia, Cecilia and Ofelia; grandchildren Isis, Armani, Necel, Daisy, Arianna and Cesar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and a daughter, Mariaelena Jimenez.
