A Texas man was killed Friday in a head-on collision on U.S. 285 near Loving.

New Mexico State Police officers were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. Friday to the scene of a wreck involving a Ford F-150 and a Peterbilt semi-truck around mile post 5 of the highway, south of Loving.

Initial investigation indicated the Ford, driven by Clay Allan Scott, 54, of Conroe, Texas, was travelling north on U.S. 285. The Peterbilt was traveling south. The Ford crossed the center line and collided head on with the Peterbilt.

Scott sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The Peterbilt driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

This case remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
