Heavy rainfall in Artesia this week not only filled Eagle Draw at various points but any pits and low-lying areas, as well, such as this drainage ditch behind the Canyonstone Apartments on North 26th Street. Construction dumpsters, the truck and trailer pictured above, and other items were seen submerged Wednesday as some complex-dwellers awoke to new lakefront property. The New Mexico State University Ag Science Center reported 1.70 inches of additional moisture Wednesday, bringing Artesia’s total for the month of August to a whopping 5.87 inches.
