Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Woodbine Cemetery for Henry Ray Jones of Artesia.

Jones, 85, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at his home.

Lee Roy Howard will officiate the services. Honorary pallbearers are his Senior Golf friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Henry was born May 27, 1933, in Bisbee, Ariz., the son of Bill and Lola (Shields) Jones.
On Aug. 10, 1953, he married Joyce Gibson in Carlsbad.

Henry was a longtime resident of Artesia. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a pipeline supervisor for the gas company and a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Henry enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Jones, of Artesia; son Kelly Jones and wife Kimberley of McKinney, Texas; brothers Dolph Jones of Artesia, Floyd Jones of Spokane, Wash., and Robert Jones of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Melissa Jones of Las Vegas; grandchildren Kathy McCombs and husband Tom, John Pinson and wife Julie, Stephanie Murray and husband Paul, Denise Horn, Britt Steggs, Kelsey Jones and Jackson Jones; and great-grandchildren Mattie McCombs, Brady McCombs, Zack Pinson, Alyssa Horn, Caleb Horn, Victoria Hall and Sydney Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Zona Hazle; son Michael Jones; and daughter Terri Steggs.
