After overcoming significant obstacles, the 65,000-pound painting titled “The Future Belongs to Those Who Prepare for It” by artist Peter Hurd is returning to the form originally envisioned by the artist in 1952.
The painting is undergoing conservation by David Olin, chief conservator of Olin Conservation Inc., a fellow of the American Institute for Conservation. Olin returned to Artesia with a team that included Larry Keck, Bryan Barberra, and Allen Forrest to conserve, repair and microscopically clean the painting and help secure its future in its new home, the Artesia Public Library. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
