Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino is set to host “Macker on the Rez,” the first-ever Gus Macker three-on-three basketball tournament to be held on a Native American reservation, Saturday, June 25, through Sunday, June 26.
Each team must have at least four players on its roster, with three players on the court at a time. Teams will be computer matched into divisions by age and gender, with male and female divisions for juniors 18 and under, adults 19 and older, and a top division reserved for the most skilled players.
Teams can register for $140 online by June 6. All proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club. The tournament will also feature a slam-dunk competition and three-point shootout, where teams will compete for $1,500 in prizes. Visit macker.com for more information on rules and registration.
Aside from two days of basketball action, Macker on the Rez will be loaded with family fun activities, such as jumping balloons, live music, Native American arts and crafts, and family movie screenings Saturday and Sunday evening. The tournament is free to attend for spectators.
