Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Primera Iglesia Bautista church for Irene Cota of Artesia.

Cota, 63, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in the Artesia General Hospital emergency room.

Pastor Balanos will officiate the services, with cremation to follow under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Irene was born Feb. 16, 1954, in Artesia to Frederico and Altagracia (Saiz) Cota. She was a lifelong Artesia resident.

Irene attended Faith Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed decorating things. She loved to spend time with her family.

Survivors include children Melissa Ochoa and husband Scott Bennett, and Angelina Davila and husband Pedro, both of Artesia, and Santana Ochoa and fiancée Felicia Fresquez of Las Cruces; sister Rosie Anholt; brothers Luis Cota of Loveland, Colo., Frutos Cota of Artesia, and Fred Cota of Portales; 11 grandchildren; and her two Yorkies, Bella and Ms. Cota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Lupe Rodriguez; and brother Saldonio Cota.
