Jane Bejarano

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Jane J. “Grama” Bejarano, 81, of Artesia.

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother answered her calling to her heavenly home and entered the gates of Heaven’s glory rejoicing to the sound of trumpets of the angels.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Terpening & Son Mortuary, followed by a Celebration of Life from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace.

Cremation will follow the services. Pallbearers will be Lucas Bejarano, Sammy Bejarano Jr., Dominic Bejarano, Tony Chavez and Joe Palma. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
Jane entered this earth May 27, 1936, in Terlingua, Texas, born to Santiago and Patricia (Lujan) Jacques.

At the age of 21, she met and married the love of her life, Samuel Bejarano, and together they raised their family in Artesia. Papo Sam lovingly took care of her to the very end, never wavering in his love and commitment to their vows, “till death do us part.”

Grama Jane enjoyed many activities, including painting anything that stood still and sometimes painting those that did not, namely turtles and some family pets that displayed her artwork with a streak of paint. She loved going to flea markets and often found treasures that are everywhere in the family home.

Her greatest joy and accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She raised us all with a firm but loving hand and gentle spirit that will live on in us all. She found humor in everything and never met a stranger. Though there were moments of trials and tribulation in life, the good outweighed the bad, and she always said they were glorification to God. We are who we are because of her love and beautiful, strong faith in our Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Jesus!

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Samuel Bejarano, of the family home; daughter Olga Miranda and husband Anthony of Artesia; sons Oscar Bejarano and wife Felicia, Sammy Bejarano Jr., and Israel Bejarano, all of Artesia, and Jeffery Bejarano and Sarah Sanchez of Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren Ceara Miranda and Laura Bejarano, both of Las Cruces, Elijah Miranda, Allie Bejarano, Sammy Bejarano Jr., Steven Bejarano, Stephanie Bejarano, Sonny Gonzales, Samantha Rubio, Tasha Bejarano and Dominic Bejarano, all of Artesia, Lucas Bejarano of Albuquerque, and Clarissa Bejarano and Azharae Sanchez, both of Aurora; great-grandchildren Kadijah, Diamond and Victor, all of Aurora, and Amillah, Anayeli, Adrian, Mariel, Aubrielle, Natalie, Sky, Ellie and Ava, all of Artesia; and siblings Pina Rocha of Houston, Texas, Josie Martinez of Los Lunas, Maria Hernandez of Canutillo, Texas, Carmen Brito and Jessie Garcia, both of Artesia, Jim Jacques of Roswell, and Jose Jacques of Hobbs.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Olga Bejarano; parents Santiago and Patricia Jacques; siblings Manuel Jacques Sr., Salvador Jacques and Toni Palma; nephew Manuel Jacques Jr.; and great-grandchildren Jaydon Andrew Bejarano, Ysaiah Contreras and Deciderio Gonzales.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Encompass, Yvonne Branch, and Dr. Salgado and staff for their compassionate care of our Grama Jane.

Though she will be missed, we take great comfort that as a believer ad faithful servant of Christ that the last breath Grama Jane took on this earth was her first in Heaven. She has been made whole and is walking the shores of Heaven with the angels and saints that have gone on before her. Oh what a reunion that must be!

Arrangements are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Condolences may be expressed online at www.artesiafunerals.com.
