Artesians are invited to celebrate an unconventional St. Patrick’s Day Saturday at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center with Los Angeles-based band Las Cafeteras.

The group describes its sound as uniquely East LA, a mix of Afro-Mexican beats, rhythms and rhymes filled with inspiring lyrics that document stories of a community seeking love and justice in the concrete jungle.

The band utilizes traditional Son Jarocho instruments such as the jarana, requinto, quijada and tarima, singing a remix of sounds from rock to hip-hop to rancheras in English, Spanish and Spanglish.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased online at www.artesiaartscouncil.com or by calling the OPAC box office at 746-4212.
