Two Artesia Public Schools administrators were recognized during the New Mexico Coalition of School Administrators Annual Conference July 22 in Albuquerque.

APS Superintendent Mike Phipps was named N.M. Schools Superintendent of the Year by the N.M. Schools Superintendent Association, and retired Yucca Elementary School Principal Sylvia Flores was named N.M. Elementary School Principal of the Year by the N.M. Association of Elementary School Principals.

Phipps is no stranger to the Superintendent of the Year award. He was previously honored in 1998 and is one of only three New Mexico administrators to have received the award twice in their career. In addition, State Senator Vernon Asbill presented Phipps with a proclamation acknowledging and congratulating him as an outstanding administrator on Aug. 4. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
