The holidays are known to be a time to give as much as receive. Members of the Artesia Police Department, New Mexico State Police, Artesia Fire Department, and the military gave their contributions to kids by taking them shopping at Wal-Mart Saturday for the event known as “Shop with a Hero.”
Eighty-one kids from local schools gathered in the gymnasium at Park Junior High, where they were paired with a volunteer, whether it was a police officer, an EMT, or a member of the Army.
