A shotgun-wielding Artesia man was arrested Saturday after police received reports of a rooftop shooting.

When an officer was dispatched to 910 Champ Clarke Ave. at 10:17 p.m., he found 48-year-old Edwardo Salsberry holding an upside-down American flag in one hand and a firearm in the other.

According to the report, the officer shined a spotlight on Salsberry and instructed him to put the gun down. He complied with the officer and climbed off the roof. Once inside his residence, the officer placed Salsberry in handcuffs while police secured the firearm on the roof.

Salsberry reportedly told the officers he had the upside-down flag, which he understood to be a sign of distress, up for a “couple of days” and no one had contacted him regarding his distress. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
