The Artesia Chamber of Commerce welcomed a packed house...
Karen Smith, left, of Expressions Salon, stands with Mildred Stockton, a salon customer being honored for her 90th birthday. The salon recognized Stockton as a long-time customer and a community leader. Stockton worked for the Artesia Public Schools in the Administrative Office and dedicated her time to helping students in the music department. The salon honored Stockton by covering its floor in pink petals and presenting her with a cake decorated with flowers, a homemade lunch and, of course, a makeover complete with a tiara. “We just love her, she is part of our family,” explained Smith. “All the girls have fallen in love with her.” Stockton stated the salon treated her like royalty. “Nobody has ever done anything like this for me before,” said Stockton. “They have done so much for me this morning, I’m overcome. They treated me like a queen.” When questioned about her makeover, Stockton joked, “They have really made an improvement.” (Tyler Green – Daily Press)
