Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the J.A. Funk Funeral Home chapel in Malvern, Ark., for Mary Dean Sowders of Magnet Cove, Ark.

Sowders, 81, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Hot Springs, Ark.

Brother Scott Efird will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at the Magnet Cove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Sowders, Eric Sowders, Marc Ham, David Ham, Keith West and Dale Irons.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at J.A. Funk Funeral Home.

Mary was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Brady, Texas, to C.A. and Gladys (Newsom) Parish. She was reared and educated in Artesia.

On July 13, 1954, she married Vernon Sowders.

She had been a resident of Magnet Cove since 1976 and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon, of Magnet Cove; daughter Suzy Love of Magnet Cove; son James Michael Sowders of Magnet Cove; four grandchildren, Eric Sowders, LouAnne Sowders, Marc Ham and David Ham; 10 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Roma Dunn, Ellen Madron, Eddie Blevins and Bobbie Ranspot.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Chuck and David Sowders; and her twin sister, Charlene McGary.
