M & R Trucking Inc. celebrated its open house Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony organized by the Artesia Trailblazers and Artesia Chamber of Commerce. Butch Mathews, owner of M & R Trucking Inc., and his wife, Sheila, let their grandchildren, Chasney and Kason, help cut the ribbon. “I started out with one truck in 1980,” Butch Mathews said. “Now we have a total of 138.” Mathews said he was glad to place another branch of his trucking company — which is based in Farmington — in Artesia. “This is our second home,” Mathews said. “And we’re going to support the community as much as we can.” Elizabeth Lewis – Daily Press
