SANTA FE -– New Mexico state health officials on Saturday announced 134 additional positive tests for COVID-19. Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
19 new cases in Bernalillo County
1 new case in Chaves County
2 new cases in CibolaCounty
11 new cases in Doña Ana County
58 new cases in McKinley County
1 new case in Rio Arriba County
1 new case in Roosevelt County
8 new cases in Sandoval County
23 new cases in San Juan County
3 new cases in Santa Fe County
7 new cases among individuals held by federal agencies at the Otero County Prison Facility
The Department of Health on Saturday also reported seven additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19. Those cases are:
• A male in his 50s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
• A male in his 60s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
• A second male in his 60s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
• A third male in his 60s from McKinley County. The individual was hospitalized and had no underlying conditions.
• A male in his 70s from McKinley County. The individual had underlying conditions and was a resident of Red Rocks Care Center in Gallup.
• A female in her 70s from San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized.
• A male in his 40s from San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 351.
Previously reported numbers included one case that was identified as a duplicate in Curry County; one case that has been determined to be an out-of-state resident in Sandoval County; one case has been added to the Torrance County Detention Facility; and one case in Valencia County that was not lab confirmed – these have now been corrected. Including the above newly reported cases, New Mexico has now had a total of 7,624 positive tests for COVID-19:

• Torrance County Detention Facility: 18
The Department of Health currently reports the following numbers of COVID-19 cases among individuals held by the New Mexico Corrections Department at the following facilities:
• Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Valencia County: 1
• Northwest New Mexico Correctional Center in Cibola County: 2
• Otero County Prison Facility: 42
As of today, there are 189 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.
As of today, there are 2,835 COVID-19 cases designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.
The Department of Health has detected community spread in the state of New Mexico and is investigating cases with no known exposure. The agency reports that given the infectious nature of the virus it is likely other residents are infected but yet to be tested or confirmed positive. To that end, all New Mexicans have been instructed to stay home except for outings absolutely necessary for health, safety and welfare. These additional restrictions have been enacted to aggressively minimize person-to-person contact and ensure spread is mitigated. New Mexicans are strongly urged to limit travel to only what is necessary for health, safety and welfare.
The New Mexico Department of Health has active investigations into the positive patients, which includes contact-tracing and swabs of symptomatic individuals who have had contact with the positive cases.
