With the tax deadline drawing near, personal-finance website WalletHub has completed an in-depth analysis of 2018’s most and least federally dependent states, with New Mexico ranking No. 1 on the dependency scale.

WalletHub compared the 50 states across three key metrics, including return on taxes paid to the federal government, federal funding as a share of state revenue, and share of federal jobs.
