New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) Cabinet Secretary Ryan Flynn and his staff discussed the details of the April settlement reached in relation to the radiation leak that occurred in February 2014 at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad at Thursday’s City of Carlsbad and Department of Energy (DOE) town hall meeting.
An investigation into the leak was launched by the NMED which resulted in enforcement action being taken against the DOE and a $17.7 million fine against WIPP for 13 permit violations. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
