The New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) is teaming up with the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department’s Energy Conservation and Management Division (ECMD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to offer a series of workshops across the state in rural areas.

Workshops will not only educate participants on how to decrease their energy consumption and implement renewable energy sources but will include ways to tie in energy savings into their financial stability.

The workshops are free, but registration is required. Additionally, a limited number of on-site energy assessments will be offered to businesses free of charge. Site assessments are conducted by an ECMD engineer, who will travel to the place of business and conduct a customized energy evaluation.

The next workshop will be held from 10 a.m. – noon Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Carlsbad Department of Development, 400-2 Cascades, Ste. 201.

Local resources for small businesses and agricultural producers will be on hand, including representatives from local utility companies, the Small Business Development Center, the Carlsbad Department of Development, and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.

Space is limited. Register online and/or apply for energy assessments at www.nmruralbiz.com/workshops. For more information, contact Johanna Nelson at Johanna.Nelson@state.nm.us or 505-827-0264.
