Aubrey Lee Durrett

The New Mexico State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a subject wanted in a shooting at Ruidoso Downs.

Ruidoso Downs police were dispatched Jan. 10 in reference to a shooting at a local residence. The NMSP Investigations Bureau was later asked to assume the investigation.

NMSP agents learned from the victim and another witness that Aubrey Lee Durrett, 22, of Alamogordo, had shot the female victim, who stated Durrett was cohabitating with her at the time. She said a dispute over a vehicle had escalated, and Durrett produced a gun and shot her.

A warrant has been issued for Durrett’s arrest on charges of aggravated battery and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the NMSP Roswell Office at 623-5100.
