Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Roswell for Norah Edith Brendle Isaacs.

Isaacs, 98, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Carlsbad.

Galen Isaacs will officiate the services, with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery in Roswell. Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. today at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.

Norah was born July 3, 1919, on a farm near Stratford, Okla., to Charley Henry and Eddith Elizabeth Brendle. She was the sixth of 11 children: six boys and five girls. She attended grade school at Summers Chapel and Vanoss High School in Oklahoma.

On April 12, 1940, she married Sterling Price Isaacs, and on May 12, 1940, the couple came to Artesia, where they made their home.

Norah worked at a laundry in Artesia while Sterling served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In November 1965, they were transferred to Albuquerque, then moved to Roswell in 1969, where they resided for 37 years until Sterling’s death on March 25, 2007. Norah later moved to Carlsbad with her daughter Judy and husband J.R. Jennings.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1970 and a member of Lodge 006 of the Woodmen of the World fraternal organization in Roswell. She served for many years as secretary of Lodge 006.

Norah’s hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and scrapbooks. She taught Sunday School class in Artesia and Roswell.

Survivors include sons Larry Keith Isaacs and wife Marsha of San Antonio, Texas, and Dickie Lynn Isaacs and wife Sharron of El Campo, Texas; daughter Judith Norene Jennings and husband J.R. of Carlsbad; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister Barbara E. Worley of Roswell.
