Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Norma Jo Schneider of Artesia.

Schneider, 87, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at her home.

Jim Barnett will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Norma was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Cottonwood, the daughter of T.A. and Beulah (Bostick) Southard. She was a lifelong area resident.

On Dec. 1, 1959, she married Earl Schneider in Artesia.

Norma served as head bookkeeper at First National Bank and also as the assistant postmaster at the Lakewood Post Office. She was a member of the Hope Church of Christ, an accomplished artist, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and growing roses, vegetables and pecans.

Survivors include stepsons Jon Durk Schneider and wife Janis of Guadalupita, Gary Wayne Schneider and wife Claudia of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steven Craig Schneider and wife Karen of Amarillo, Texas; brother Robert Southard and wife Mary of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law Anna Southard of Clovis; grandchildren Tim Schneider and wife Angie, Sam Schneider and wife Kelli, Andrea Jacobberger and husband Andrew, Kristina Schneider, Jacob Schneider and wife Abbie, and Jennifer Studebaker and husband John; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Schneider, on Jan. 20, 2004.
