Bert Cox

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at French’s Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd., Albuquerque, for Oscar Elbert “Bert” Cox.

Cox, 65, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, in Panama City Beach, Fla., following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Interment will follow the services at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Bert was born Feb. 1, 1952, in Artesia to Avery and Elizabeth Cox.

He retired from the U.S. Army with more than 20 years of service, then went on to retire from Sandia National Laboratories in February 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Delene Cox; daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Jon, and two grandchildren; son Craig Cox, wife Barbara, three step-grandsons, and two step-great-granddaughters; his mother, Elizabeth Boggs, of Roswell; brothers Wesley Cox and wife Barbra of Lubbock, Texas, Bill Cox and wife Alison of Albuquerque, and Larry Cox and wife Wendi of Las Cruces; sisters Kay Ross of Roswell and Glyna Mullins and husband David of Artesia; and special friend Linda Scott.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Avery Cox. In loving memory – he will be greatly missed.
