Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Pablo E. Valencia of Artesia.

Valencia, 91, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, in the Artesia General Hospital emergency room.

Cornelias Valencia will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mark Valencia, Xavier Valencia, Armando Valencia Jr., Paul Ontiveros, Paul Valencia IV, and Israel Valencia Jr. Honorary pallbearers are his remaining grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Pablo was born March 31, 1926, in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Pablo and Matilda (Esparza) Valencia.

In November 1947, he married Angela Diaz in Cardenas, Mexico.

Pablo was a farm laborer and later went to work in the oilfields. He came to Artesia in 1959 after working in Nebraska and Colorado.

He enjoyed fishing and playing poker, and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include daughters Tina Frederico and husband Arturo of Artesia, and Yolanda Espinoza of Denver, Colo.; sons Israel Valencia and wife Catalina, Javier Valencia and wife Suzanne, Pablo Valencia III, Armando Valencia, and Alonzo Valencia and wife Jessica, all of Artesia; Robert Valencia of Lubbock, Texas, and Omar Valencia of Phoenix, Ariz.; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Valencia, on June 14, 2003; three sisters; three brothers; and grandson Jesse Hernandez.
